Starting on August 25th we returned to classes at my home district, which was much earlier than our usual September start. My high school life takes place between two main buildings, my project-based school, and the district’s standard senior high school, where I attend choir (and will attend Finance DE next semester).
While this means I get to drive back in forth 2-4 each day for class and theater, it also offers me the ability to earn extra credit, and still experience a duo of traditional classes I otherwise wouldn’t be able to.
I will admit, the start of the year is always rough, especially when the main school you attend lost 3 key staff members in one summer, leaving one to hold down the fort. Subs and new hires of course do their best, but being an advisor at a project based school isn’t something you can pick up over night. Interviews have been held to hire a new advisor to fill our 3rd seat, but that appears to not be going well.
Either way, I love this school, and I will do whatever I can to keep it around, and keep the culture alive. I am the President of our Student Government this year, and with just 6 credits remaining to earn, I will have a lot of time on my hands come second semester. I plan to spend that time working to help our school in whatever way I can.
To close out on a positive note, I was cast as Hans in our fall musical of Frozen. I will have more to share later.
